Stories and Life Journeys

In all Buddhist traditions, the life stories of those who have walked the path to enlightenment are eagerly read, recounted and studied. Generally we hear the names of great men. But where are the women who also practised with heart and soul and attained liberation and enlightenment?

Dharma teacher Agnes Pollner has compiled inspiring stories about women from all Buddhist traditions, thereby highlighting the work and wisdom of spiritual ancestors in Buddhism.

This volume contains the life stories and experiences of women who lived during the Buddha’s lifetime and from the Mahayana traditions in India, China and Japan, who fearlessly and unwaveringly followed their path. The collection is enjoyable and entertaining, inviting readers to read aloud and pass on the stories.

With a foreword by Sylvia Wetzel (a further volume with stories from Tibet and about women from Tantric Buddhism will follow in autumn 2025).
