My Exercises for Body, Mind and Spirit

Getting to know your body again

“Eating and not eating were the weapons in my daily battle against my body. I thought that controlling my weight and my eating habits would give me a sense of security in life. But in reality, it was the eating disorder that had taken control of me and my life.”

Yoga is not only one of the most popular sports in Germany, but is also therapeutically beneficial thanks to its mindful and conscious physical exercises. In this book, an experienced yoga teacher combines valuable exercises with psychological background information for those affected by eating disorders.

Those suffering from eating disorders possess a strong will and a firm goal, yet this contradicts a healthy or accepting self-image. Lilly Hoffmann harnesses this strength and willpower to show them an alternative. For the body continues to play a decisive role in yoga too; here, however, the author gently guides the way to feeling at home in it once more.

In her book, Lilly Hoffmann explains the psychological underpinnings of eating disorders, demonstrates great empathy as someone who has experienced them first-hand, reflects on her own experiences and shares her personal journey of healing with others. The physical exercises are illustrated with photos, so that all readers – even those who have never practised yoga before – can try them out straight away.
