Recognise, understand and treat
Almost 10% of all people suffer from a personality disorder. As a result, they have problems with identity, controlling their emotions, thoughts and actions, as well as intimacy and empathy. Self-doubt or a feeling of inner emptiness, unstable relationships, conflicts, or loneliness are common sources of stress. This can lead to depression or anxiety disorders, which are then treated, but the underlying personality disorder is often not addressed. This guide aims to help those affected recognise and understand their own difficulties and strengths, and to identify ways to treat them. To this end, each chapter deals with the individual personality functions that are impaired in a personality disorder. Practical exercises and illustrative case studies are also intended to contribute to a better understanding of the disorder.
