How we overcome the anthropocentric view. An invitation

For thousands of years, man has looked at nature from an egocentric point of view and helped himself to its treasures as a matter of course. With every piece of original nature that is lost through our intervention, we also lose a part of our soul. Nature is the basis of our life. To protect our planet and keep it worth living on, we have to redefine our role in the universe: Humans are not at the centre, but are part of nature, which must be protected.

To make this clear, Gerd Estermann uses his personal experiences to bring us closer to the fascinating and diverse aspects of a still mysterious nature. He describes how nature can be experienced with all the senses and offers a scientific as well as an emotional and spiritual approach.

Gerd Estermann

Gerd Estermann did his doctorate in chemistry on the subject of environmental analysis at the University of Innsbruck. He then taught chemistry for many years as a secondary school teacher and was active in adult education. Today he is a lecturer at a university for process and environmental engineering. In addition to his work, he founded and led several citizens' initiatives. His greatest concern is the preservation of the original nature in his homeland, the Tyrolean mountains. Most recently, a petition for glacier protection, which he initiated, collected almost 170,000 signatures.
