Solar kochen und backen in Mitteleuropa

Cooking and baking with solar energy in Mid-Europe

Solar cookers also offer the possibility of environmentally friendly cooking and baking on 100 to 150 days a year. The food tastes better because it is cooked more gently and is therefore richer in nutrients and vitamins than conventionally cooked food.

Cooking in the garden, on the balcony or on the road is not only fun and a special sensual pleasure, but also shows how the power of the sun can be used with an amazingly simple technique.

After a short historical outline, some commercially available solar cookers are presented, which are best suited for our latitudes. Detailed and vividly, with many photos and drawings, the construction of a solar oven (box cooker) made of wood is then described, which has proven itself here for many years and can be reproduced quite easily with easily available mate- rials. Examples of solar cooker initiatives in Europe show how diverse solar ovens and parabolic mirror cookers can be used in public.

And also: practical tips and many tried and trusted cooking and baking recipes for fine but uncomplicated meals in the open air.
