Since 1984, Nachtschatten Verlag, a specialist publisher for drug education, has dedicated itself to providing factual information to highlight the background and cultural history of drug use and to contribute to prevention and harm reduction. In contrast to the usual black-and-white polemics and ‘war on drugs’ slogans, we are firmly convinced that enlightened people can show a self-determined maturity when dealing with drugs, provided the right information is available.

The publishing programme covers a wide spectrum: it includes not only books on illegal drugs, but also specialist information on the legal stimulants tobacco and alcohol, works on shamanism, drug policy, psycholytic therapy and philosophical perspectives – for example in the book series ‘Ecology of Consciousness’.
