Framework, definition and tools

This book is neither a manual on photographic techniques aimed at teaching readers how to take beautiful portraits, nor a guide to art therapy aimed at encouraging photography as a means of personal fulfilment. It offers an innovative perspective on how photography can transcend its traditional role to become a force for transformation and liberation.

Aware of the need to provide a framework for practices that are still relatively unknown, offering an interesting and/or complementary approach to conventional therapies, Priscilla Gissot and Élodie Sueur-Monsenert present in this guide the methods they have respectively created in order to provide a framework, a definition and concrete tools for photographers, therapists and any other wellness professionals wishing to use photography or image visualisation in connection with personal development.

They explain how photography can be used to restore/strengthen self-esteem or even trigger a process of emotional release, and above all how to kindly support clients in discovering their image and expressing their emotions.
