A wake-up call to help women take back control of their health.

For centuries, medicine treated women as exceptional cases, or as patients hardly worth studying: their pain was considered imaginary, their symptoms exaggerated, their bodies too complicated. The result? Late diagnoses, unsuitable treatments, and millions of women left without answers.

After suffering from severe pain since adolescence that was never taken seriously, Dr. Diana Kadouch learned at age 27 that she had severe endometriosis and was almost certainly infertile. A rushed diagnosis nearly cost her her uterus, which she narrowly saved thanks to her own medical training.

Drawing on both her personal experience and medical expertise, she offers in this book both a powerful wake-up call and, above all, a practical guide to better understanding the specificities of women’s health. Through personal testimonies and undeniable scientific evidence, she explores the major issues affecting women’s health (cardiovascular and digestive health, weight management, fertility, chronic pain, and more) while giving women the tools to ask the right questions and take charge of their own healthcare journey.
