A Buddhist perspective on space-time

Living in the present is advice that everyone can hear; ultimately, it is common sense: dwelling on the past or getting lost in anticipation of the future causes us to miss what is happening in the moment. However, putting this advice into practice is not as simple as the famous phrase ‘live in the moment’ would suggest. Inner work is required to transform our presence to ourselves and the world. Sandy Hinzelin invites us to explore these questions from a Buddhist perspective, drawing in particular on the teachings of the Tibetan master Tarthang Tulku. It is about moving from an elusive and unsatisfying time to a time that is an ally in everyday life and a source of liberation. This requires an opening of one’s own consciousness, which is the key to being free and having a fulfilled life. The book unfolds in three stages. Clarifying the ordinary time in which we live by becoming aware of our conditioning. Awakening to another space-time by changing our inner perspective, through a practice that is both ethical and physical. Recognizing time as a living whole, thus allowing us to taste fulfilment and find our path. Living in the present moment is thus the fruit of a quest. It is about finding the dwelling place where the timeless lies and settling there comfortably.
