Animal ethics is a subject that arises more and more interest and more and more people are questioning themselves from a logical point of view the way they relate to other animals. In recent years, publications that propose an alternative way of life with regard to animals have prolifera- ted, such as philosophical essays, cookbooks or children’s stories. Howe- ver, there is a literary gap between works addressed to children and works addressed to adults. Adolescence is precisely the vital stage in which the most important changes take place in the human mind, the way we con- ceive the world also changes importantly.
The Voice of Animals intends to fill in this literary void, it is an essay aimed at adolescents that promotes reflection through critical thinking on different issues related to animal ethics. Through simple questions, it presents some of the most common themes that arise in adolescence when we ponder over the lives of animals, both in freedom and in capti- vity. With an educational purpose, it also raises a series of didactic pro- posals through education in moral values and the promotion of critical thinking.
Implemented with color pictures by Sara Ramirez, this book has also counted with the collaboration of multiple teachers, students and alumni who have proposed suitable ways of presenting these issues to teenagers.
