Lucien Kroll, born in 1927, trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de La Cambre, lives and works in Brussels with the Atelier d’Urbanisme, d’Architecture et d’Informatique Lucien Kroll, and with his wife Simone, a gardener, colourist and potter. If he defines himself as an architect or urban planner as much as a simple citizen, it is because for him architecture is a matter of relationships, linking individuals to each other and to their environment. The Atelier Lucien Kroll has been working since the 1960s with the participation of the inhabitants, and with the greatest respect for the context: the search for the “feeling of living” being quite simply impossible without the contribution of inhabitants’ cooperatives.
