Healing Our Brains Through Conscious Therapeutic Engagement
What if healing didn’t come from fixing what’s “wrong,” but from a relationship capable of reconnecting with what has become frozen in order to survive?
In Relational Intelligence®, François Le Doze proposes a new model of psychotherapy dedicated to healing deep psychological wounds and dissociation. Drawing on the neuroscience of trauma and attachment theory, it offers a shift in perspective: trauma cannot be reduced to a mere psychological dysfunction, but rather corresponds to a protective and enduring organization of the nervous system, shaped by chronic unsafety.
At the heart of the model is the Conscious Therapeutic Engagement, which enables the practitioner to finely tune their presence to meet the patient at the level of their experience of feeling unsafe. By integrating the bodily and cognitive dimensions, the author transforms chronic unsafety into a lasting sense of safety: a practice in which the quality of the relationship becomes the primary driver of regulation and healing.
“We don’t heal simply by understanding what has happened to us.” Cyril Tarquinio, foreword
