Leo Timmers

Leo Timmers was born in Belgium in 1970. After studying advertising and graphic design Leo worked for 10 years as a freelance children’s book illustrator. In 2000 he wrote his first picture book called ‘Happy with me’ which he also illustrated. He received a Bookfeather award for the illustrations. From then on Leo wrote most of his books himself which where awarded many times. He won the annual Children’s and Youth Jury Award seven times and in 2012 his book ‘Bang’ was awarded the prestigious Bookpeacock award for best illustrated book of the year. His books have been translated in more than 25 languages. Recently Leo is very involved with animation as a first TV- series based on his work is currently in production ( Ziggy & the Zootram), and a second show is in development. (Deep sea Doctor Derek). He supervises all stages, like scriptwriting, design, modeling and direction.
