Matthias Maak

Private Lecturer Matthias Maak, MD, born in 1977, worked at the Klinikum rechts der Isar in Munich, among other hospitals, after studying human medicine. He is a senior physician at the Department of Surgery at Erlangen University Hospital. A specialist in general surgery, he completed his habilitation and obtained the teaching qualification for surgery, followed by a specialisation in visceral surgery and an additional qualification in proctology. After a first difficult birth experience as a passive father, he attended three further births as the active HypnoBirthing partner of his wife Julia and saw at first hand how the method can help. As a volunteer scientific advisor to the HypnoBirthing Society Europe (HBGE), he draws on the HBGE’s data on HypnoBirthing births to support his wife’s aim of bringing HypnoBirthing closer to the world of conventional medicine.
