Éditions Écosociété

Founded in 1992 by a group of activists convinced that it was high time to defend a society in which social ecology would be a cardinal value, this independent publishing house has taken up the challenge of circulating ideas. Écosociété is a collective work, driven by a wide range of energies, storms and flights of fancy, and indefatigable brains.

With the conviction that the general public is thirsty for books of ideas, and not just for entertainment, Écosociété publishes books that are demanding, daring and accessible. Écosociété’s mandate is to inform the public about major ecological issues and their intrinsic links with economic, social and political issues. Rooted in social reality and the major issues that run through it, Écosociété fuels reflection and debate in the public arena on these issues by reaching out to both the general public and more specialised circles. Écosociété publishes French-language authors, but also has a long tradition of translating works for the French-speaking public.

Through its work as a critical and independent publisher, Écosociété has taken on the challenge of spreading its influence and inspiring others, by supporting its authors with care and professionalism, a mission that is constantly being renewed. Écosociété’s books are a vehicle for original ideas and words, sparking much-needed public debate and creating links to bring together people who want to combine action with reflection.
