A seminal text by J.-L. Jazarin, president of the Collège des Ceintures Noires de Judo for 23 years, this book is an essay on the values of Judo and, more broadly, Martial Arts.

The author’s example and the luminous clarity of his words make his analysis one of the finest ever written on the profound meaning of Martial Arts. This text has the power of lived and shared experience.

The author highlights the universal educational significance of Judo, a school of wisdom that teaches practitioners, from a young age, to respect the laws of life and, for seasoned practitioners, to understand them in order to apply them in daily life.

Warm, clear, and wise, this text invites us to discover Judo as a school of life, that is, as a school of nobility and not as a sport. A must-read and a must-meditate on.

Jazarin Jean-Lucien

Jean-Lucien JAZARIN (1900-1982) is an exceptional individual. A man of social action, he was passionate about Zen Buddhism and Hinduism. He led hundreds of conferences on the Bhaga vad-Gita and Vedanta. He was above all a pioneer of Martial Arts: he discovered Judo at the age of 42 and became the 111th French black belt. Vice-President of the French Judo Federation, he spent 23 years as director of the National College of Black Belts of France. From 6th dan until his death, he was posthumously promoted to 7th dan. His books on Judo have been republished numerous times.
