At the source of the Karate.
The Bubishi is a legendary work of Martial Arts : it is the work that links
Karate and kung fu; it is the fundamental work of Karate-do. In their quest
for research, Martial Arts historians have pinpointed the birthplace of what
would become Karate in southern China, in Fujian province. It was there that
Bai He Quan (White Crane Boxing) emerged, a school of Kung Fu that draws
its techniques from observing the postures of this majestic bird and whose
techniques can be found even in modern Karate movements.
The Bubishi is a rare work, passed down from master to master. This work,
copied many times, presents in drawings the essence of the art of what the
Okinawans called Tô-de, the hand of China. These drawings are invaluable,
precise, and precious reference points for those who know how to read,
compare, reflect, and extrapolate. Accompanying the original drawings with
explanations and photo applications, Roland Haberstezer guides the reader
in their search for the original Karate.
