A poetic and delicate fairy tale that celebrates creativity, cooperation among children, and the importance of play
One day, tired of observing the Earth only from above, the clouds decide to come down. They land in gardens, houses and cities, causing chaos but also wonder: they show up in bars, play in parks, and let children pet them. However, their stay on the ground empties the sky, making the sun scorching, the moon sad, and the Earth increasingly arid.
Nino, a sensitive and attentive child, notices the consequences of this absence and looks for a way to bring the clouds back to the sky. Inspired by a butterfly, he involves his friends: they colour sheets as if they were butterflies and flowers, tie them to woollen threads and, with the help of the wind, make them fly like kites. The clouds, intrigued by the new colourful toys, follow them and return to the sky, happy and light. Since then, they no longer fall, or do so only rarely… because on Earth there is always at least one child flying a kite.
A bilingual Italian and English picture book, written and illustrated by Arianna Usai, for children aged 4 to 8 who love poetic and imaginative stories, for parents and teachers looking for sweet but meaningful reads to share, and for anyone who wants to cultivate wonder, empathy and respect for nature.
