Natsume Sôseki
Natsume Sôseki (1867-1916), a distinguished writer of the Meiji era, has had a profound impact on Japanese
literature. By the end of the 19th century, before writing his famous novels Botchan and I am a Cat, he
established himself in the unique haiku community, by the side of the famous poet Shiki. As he decided to break
free from a number of rules overseeing this poetry form, he offers a refreshing and modern vision of the art.
