Cécile Bennegent
Cécile BENNEGENT practices and teaches capoeira at the Senzala
School in France. After numerous study trips to Brazil, she conducted
a new research project on capoeira as part of a Master’s degree in So-
cio-Anthropology at the University of Lyon II. She founded the Gingan-
do Association in February 2005 and co-wrote the documentary film
Vida de Mandingueiro : Being Capoeira, released in 2006 (Mécano Prod,
directed by Mathias Monarque).
