Suzanne Segal
Suzanne Segal studied meditation under the tutelage of the Maharishi and the Transcendental Meditation movement. Boarding a bus in Paris one day she experienced a profound collapse of identification with the ‘small self’ and a dramatic expansion into a larger awareness. She spent the following ten years in a state of anxious confusion about her condition until a meeting Jean Klein reassured her that her ‘no-self’ condition was not a variety of madness. Her biography, written in collaboration with Yoga journal editor in chief Stephan Bodian, quickly established itself as a modern classic in the field of spiritual literature. Suzanne died of a brain tumour in 1997.
